Friendly 50.
- Fun League
- Is strictly reserved for GBQuizzers who competed in Fun League in 2001, having historically averaged 45 or less in previous GBQuizzes, or GBQuizzers who are allocated to this league during 2002.
- There will be six prizes of £15, drawn by ballot if necessary, awarded to the six leading scorers.
- There will be two "Spot Prizes" of £10, available to all contestants other than the £15 winners, who correctly answer questions 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35.
- Anyone scoring 49 or 50 will in fairness to others be "promoted" with immediate effect.
- Others
- SUPER LEAGUE members are not eligible for this section on its own.
- The Prize fund of £300 will be shared among joint winners but if there are five or fewer GBQuizzers in first place, they will share £150 with 10 prizes of £15, drawn by ballot if necessary, going to runners-up.
- If there are 21 or more joint winners, then a ballot will be held to limit the number to 20 who will each receive £15. Anyone balloted out will receive a free entry to the following month's GBQ.
- There will be 5 "Spot Prizes" of £20, available to all contestants who have not won £30 or more in the quiz, who correctly answer questions 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35.
Friendly 50 + Tantalising 30
- This section is open to all.
- The prize fund of £150 will be shared among joint winners, but if there are three or fewer GBQuizzers in first place, they will share £90 with £60 going, by ballot if necessary, to runners-up.
- There will be three "Spot Prizes" of £20, available to all contestants who successfully answer who have not won £30 or more in the quiz, who successfully answer questions 55, 60, 65, 70 and 80.
Friendly 50 + Tantalising 30 + Tormenting 20
- This section is open to all.
- The prize fund of £300 will be shared among joint winners but if there are three or fewer GBQuizzers in first place, they will share £180 with £120 going to runners-up.
- Prize money of £80 will be reserved for contestants who are not in SUPER LEAGUE and will be distributed among the highest scoring GBQuizzers in the quiz provided they did not win in a prize (other than a Spot Prize) in both of the two previous GBQ's.
- There will be five "Spot Prizes" of £20, available to all GBQuizzers who have not won £30 or more in the quiz, who successfully answer questions 55, 60, 65, 70 and 80.
- There will be three prizes of £100, £50 and £25 for the highest aggregate scores in GBQ's 95 to 100 inclusive. If there is an outright winner of the £100 prize, he or she will be "handicapped" minus 3 points for the "running prizes" in GBQ's 101 to 106.
- Winners of two first prizes during the year (other than in the Fun League) in a given section may not subsequently enter a lower section. They may, of course, continue in the same section or attempt a higher one, subject to the proviso below.
- In FUN LEAGUE, FRIENDLY 50, FRIENDLY 50 + TANTALISING 30, anyone winning six consecutive prizes in 2002 will be "promoted" and will have to enter a higher section of GBQ the next three times they enter.
- GBQ's decision shall be final as to acceptable answers and allocated of prizes
